Pallay Punchu del Apu T’akllo the new mountain of colors also known as Pallay Puncho, a new tourist destination discovered in the south in the province of Canas, this tourist destination will be part of the circuit of colored mountains that exist in Cusco to visit in 2021 such as Rainbow Mountain, Palcoyo, if we count Pallay Punchu it will be considered the third mountain of colors with excellent landscape and nature.

PALLAY PUNCHU LOCATION

Pallay Punchu Mountain is located between the town of Ocobamba and the town of Layo, both towns in the province of Canas, this attraction has an approximate height of 4700 meters above sea level at 03 hours from the city of Cusco leaving by transport tourist.

PALLAY PUNCHU WHEATER

Pallay Punchu, as it belongs to the Cusco region, also has a rainy season and a dry season, however Pallay Punchu has a very special climate, it is cold and dry in the morning, sunny afternoons accompanied by winds.

It is advisable to travel to Pallay Punchu in the dry season, the advantage of going in this season is that the road is much easier you will be able to observe animals grazing around the place, but the landscape turns yellow due to the intense heat, if you decide to travel to Pallay Punchu In the rainy season you will see that the road is slippery due to rain and mud, you will see streams through the green landscapes watered by the rains.

HOW TO GET TO PALLAY PUNCHU?

There are several ways to get to Pallay Punchu, the best known entrance is through the town of Layo but you can also enter through the town of Ocobamba or Marangani, each path has its own peculiarity.

To get to Pallay Punchu we must leave in a transport from Cusco on the road to Puno until we reach the province of Canas.

PALLAY PUNCHU TREK 

Then we will choose the town where we want to enter, Layo, Ocobamba or Marangani, the walk through these three places is approximately 04 hours round trip along paths of different materials and colors.

At the end we will visit its sharp colorful mountains. We recommend acclimatizing for a few days in Cusco to avoid problems with altitude sickness.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE WALK

  • Previous acclimatization in Cusco and improve your physical condition.
  • Walking stick.
  • Trekking shoes.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Jacket, gloves, scarf and warm clothing.
  • Bring a rain poncho for the rainy season.
  • Recommended age to go to Pallay Punchu is from 12 years to 50 years depending on physical condition.

  • Water to rehydrate.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

Pallay Punchu has a height of 4700 meters above sea level, it is not at the height level of Rainbow Mountain 5200 m.s.n.m. For this reason, the level of difficulty for the ascent is intermediate and it also has several places of entry, in some parts the road is flat and in others with an intermediate incline.
